 History: American astronaut Sunita Williams of Indian origin

Sunita Williams is Indian American astronaut and American Navy officer. She is the second woman of Indian origin to travel in space through NASA. Sunita belongs to Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, India. He has established a world record for being a space astronaut for 195 days in space.




One of the most frequently used space walks by a female astronaut was the record of his name at one time. Also, for the most part, space walk is also named after him. His father Deepak Pandya is a doctor in America. He was appointed in the International Space Center for Expedition 14 and Expedition 15. In 2012, he played Flight Engineer for the Expedition 32 of the International Space Station, and he appeared in the role of Commander in Expedition 33.

early life

Sunita Williams was born on September 19, 1965 in Euclid, Ohio, USA. His father Dr Deepak Pandya moved from India to India in 1964. His mother, Ursuline Bonni, belongs to Pandya Slovene-Native American. Sunita is the youngest among her three siblings. Her brother Jai Thomas Pandya is four years older than her and her sister Diana Anna has three years.

Dr. Deepak Pandya, father of Sunita, belongs to the Indian state of Mehsana district, where he was born in Jhalasana while his mother's family belonged to Slovenia.

Williams completed his schooling from Needham High School in Massachutas (Needham) in 1983 and graduated in 1987 from 'United States Naval Academy' in Physical Science. After this, he graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1995 in 'Engineering Management'.

Career in the US military

In 1987, Sunita Williams received a commission in the US Army. After a temporary appointment of about 6 months, he was given the rank of 'Basic Diving Officer'. In 1989, he was sent to Naval Air Training Command where Naval Aviator was appointed. After this he trained in Helicopter Combat Support Squadron and was deployed at many foreign locations. During the Operation Desert Shield and Operation Proven Comfort, he worked in the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Persian Gulf. In September 1992, he was sent the H-46 squadron-officer-in-charge to Miami (Florida). This detachment was sent to work relating to 'Hurricane Andrew'.



In January 1993, Sunita launched 'U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, and completed the course in the month of December. In December 1995, he was named 'U.S. Naval Test Pilot School 'was sent to the Rotary Wing Department as the coach and the security officer of the school. There they flew helicopters like UH-60, OH-6 and OH-58. After this he was sent as the Air Operator and Assistant Air Boss on the USS Seppan. In 1998, when Sunita was selected for NASA, she was employed on USS Sepan.

NASA career

Astonaut Candidate Training of Sunita Williams started in August 1998 in the Johnson Space Center. On December 9, 2006, Sunita was sent from Space Discovery to International Space Center, where she was to attend the Expedition-14 team. In April 2007, Russian astronauts were changed so that they became Expedition-15. During Expedition-14 and 15, they did three spaces. On April 6, 2007, he participated in 'Boston Marathon' in space and completed in 4 hours 24 minutes. He became the first person to run in the marathon in space. He returned to Earth on June 22, 2007.

Sunita Expeditions 32 and 33 in 2012 He was sent to space from Beaconur cosmodrome on July 15, 2012. His spacecraft joined the Soyuz 'International Space Center'. He was made Commander of Expedition 33 on September 17, 2012. They are just the second woman to do this. In September 2012, he became the first person to make triathals in space. On November 19, Sunita Williams returned to Earth.
